Massage roller

massage roller

A massage roller is a great tool to help you recover, especially from intense workouts with weights or sports like boxing. They can be used to massage tight muscle without the need for a massage therapist. They are particularly good at finding knots in your muscle and allowing them to release.

How can I use a massage roller effectively?

Basically all you need to do it roll along the muscles you are targeting until you find a tight knot. A knot is a tight, tough point in your muscle that is holding a lot of tension and potentially causing you pain or reducing your performance. Once you have found a knot, hold that position for about 20 seconds and relax to allow the knot to release. Then continue rolling until you have released all the knots you can find.

What muscle can I use a roller on?

Some of the best muscles to use a massage roller for are:

  • upper back,
  • thighs,
  • hamstrings,
  • glutes, and
  • calves.

As you can see massage rollers are fantastic for the larger muscles in the body. The technique for each muscle is a bit different, and some of the position can be hard to get into to find the knots. But after a while of using you will become an expert and finding and releasing those knots. For many other smaller muscles are better off to use a tennis ball or a lacrosse ball so you can get into the right location.

This massage roller is an awesome choice for the price; it has a strong core with some massaging foam nodules on the outside to help massage and relax your muscles. The foam nodules are there to put extra pressure on knots to get them to release. We have also added massage rollers to our recovery kit, a collection of great products to enhance your recovery times.
