July, 6 months into the year. The perfect time to add something new to your health and fitness regime. You can try something new to reinvigorate your health and fitness routines. Whether you pick up a new sport or change how your workout it can help from getting bored with the same routine. We have some great suggestions in this post and also our previous posts, so check them out for some new ideas.
5. Swimming goggles
If you want to start swimming then goggles are a must. They protect your eyes and allow you to be much more efficient in the water. They also make swimming more enjoyable and comfortable; great for helping you to stick with swimming. Swimming goggles are also very affordable so there is little reason not to pick up a pair and get swimming.
4. Lacrosse ball
An awesome counterpart to the massage roller for some pinpoint myofascial release. Perfect for getting to hard to reach or different muscle knots and tension. As a bonus if you play lacrosse you could actually use the balls for that.
3. Ben Hogan’s five fundamentals of golf
Want to up your game of golf? Ben Hogan’s book is a fantastic way to improve your golf fundamentals. Covering the swing, grip and stance; there is many tips in this book to help you out somewhere not matter what level you are at. The book is also full of helpful diagrams and images to help portray the content in the words.
2. Sandbag weights
A fantastically cheap way to add weights and resistance to some of your training. The bags are cheap and sand is also plentiful and cheap to procure for filling the bags. An added benefit for using sand bags is the non-uniform shape and size of the weights. Using these requires more recruitment from your stabilizer muscles and core. This gives you a workout for more of your body compared to using uniform and solid weights.
1. Ab roller
The king of ab workouts. One of the hardest ab exercises to master, it is fantastic for the whole core. It works the abs, obliques and back as they all need to stay rigid throughout the whole exercise. The ab roller also has fantastic progression scaling. Progression can be done at extremely small increments (ie. extra 1cm), allowing you to also keep progressing even when it gets difficult.
