Why you should use the stairs instead of an escalator or lift

There are many reasons why you should climb the stairs instead of riding the escalator or calling a lift.

Stairs vs. Lifts/Elevators

If you are going less than 4 floors in a lift it is probably faster just to take the stairs. By the time you wait for lift to come and then possibly stop at other floors you could have already arrived at your destination. You could walk up even more floors if the lift is in a busy building! Plus you get some bonus exercise in your day. Which is especially important now that we live in a world where we don’t do as much exercise as we should.

Stairs Vs. Escalators

The same can be applied to escalators as well. You can climb the stairs at the same speed if not faster than the escalator next to you. And you can get that lovely bit of exercise as you climb passed all those lazy folks riding the escalator. If you must take an escalator, climb it as well to get that bit of extra exercise in.

Casey Neistat’s thoughts

Casey Neistat, the famous Youtuber, Vlogger and filmmaker is famous for saying “Always take the stairs, never the escalator”. It is a literal quote as well as being a metaphor. It is literally good for your health and time but metaphorically you shouldn’t take easy route just cause its there. You miss out on the learning and growing you can get while taking the harder route in life.
